Leak Detection and Repair

- A water bill that climbed without a change in how the household uses water

About certainty
Some leaks are found in ten minutes. Others take methodical elimination, and a few sit in places that cannot be inspected without opening something up.
When that point is reached, the honest thing is to say what is known, what is likely and what is still a guess — including when the next step means access work with no guarantee attached. That conversation happens before any cutting, not after.

Leak detection FAQ
Often the source can be narrowed down substantially before anything is opened. Whether it can be confirmed without access depends on where it sits, and you will be told which situation you are in before any work starts.
It can be, and it is worth checking. A running toilet, an irrigation fault and a concealed supply leak can all look identical on a bill, so the investigation starts by ruling out the easy explanations.
If water is actively appearing and you can reach the main shutoff safely, closing it limits the damage. Mention on the call whether you were able to.
